Thomas Allen has practiced law in Madison, Wisconsin since 1992. During that time, he has focused his practice in the areas of intellectual property, general business, and corporate law. In addition, he represents businesses in the areas of construction, commercial real estate, and employment law. He also represents individuals in the areas of estate planning and residential real estate.

Tom graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology.

After a five year period working for a high tech company in Middleton, Wisconsin, Tom earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1992. While attending law school, Tom was an editor of the Wisconsin Law Review and authored a published article concerning strict liability of commercial lessors. Tom also received two American Jurisprudence Awards for excellence in the study of law.

Tom is a registered patent attorney and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also is admitted to practice in all Wisconsin State Courts as well as the Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. He is also admitted to practice before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Following law school, Tom was in private practice at a law firm in Madison. After many years in private law practice, Tom became General Counsel for a company in Madison that provides energy and environmental engineering and construction services, including wind farm construction, throughout the United States and worldwide.

In addition to his practice at Erhard & Payette, LLC, Tom acts as General Counsel for a high tech software and data acquisition company in Madison.

Tom is a member of the McFarland School District Board of Education and a long-time youth soccer coach in McFarland, where he lives with his wife and their three boys.
