Megan Phillips joined Erhard & Payette after graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2010. Megan assists business owners in purchasing real estate, restructuring businesses, arranging financing for business acquisitions, and drafting closing documents. She also organizes limited liability companies, reviews title commitments, leases and general business contracts. Megan's experience also includes litigating business cases involving construction contracts, employment or wage disputes, breach-of-contract, and fraud claims. Additionally, she represents clients in divorces, including cases involving retirement plan division, residential real estate, child support, custody and placement issues. Megan has experience drafting wills, powers of attorney, living wills, and also assisting clients in estate-related litigation.
Outside of the office, Megan is active in the James E. Doyle Inns of Court, the AIDS Network of Dane County, and the Young Lawyers Division of the Wisconsin State Bar. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Legal Association for Women. Megan is a committed member of the Wisconsin Association for Justice, and recently authored an article for the organization's publication called The Verdict.
Megan received the 2009 Leonard Loeb Family Law Scholarship from the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, which recognizes a strong commitment to the field of family law. She also received the 2009 Madison Business Professional Women's Association Scholarship. In law school, Megan worked as a judicial intern for Judge John Markson in Dane County Circuit Court.
Megan also worked as a legal assistant and litigation specialist before enrolling in law school. She completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with majors in journalism and psychology.
Megan enjoys her two Sheltie dogs, playing soccer on a local team, visiting her parents in Green Bay and traveling.
